  1. Nice story.

    Here is mine...

    "MALANA"
It was our maiden visit to ancient village of Malana. Before this visit we have heard a lot about this place but never got the chance to explore it. Malana is a different world in itself. It has its own parliament and rules. Rishi Jamdagini is worshipped here. People of Malana have an immense faith on Him.

During our visit we closely observed and found that essence of Malana is fading away rapidly. Old wooden houses are disappearing and concrete houses are taking their places. In the name of modernization old values and traditions are not taken care of. Rishi Jamdagini's orders are being ignored and He is not really happy about this. It is nature's law that new will replace old. But this friction and struggle between the two is very painful.

Our host Mr Krishan satisfied our each and every curiosity about Malana. Moment we entered into Malana village, we kept asking only one question to many "where is Mr Krishan' house ?" People gave us directions. Finally a gentleman met us near Rishi Jamdagini' temple. I asked him the same question. He was covering his nose and mouth with a mask. I can figure out easily from his eyes that he was smiling. Thats our first encounter with Mr Krishan.

I can never forget this gentleman and his unique accent. He is so knowledgeable and good in story telling that he simply gives you a window to peep through into the rich history and culture of Malana. His stories also reflect a struggle in the society between old and new.

He told us many stories about Rishi Jamdagini. In his stories we have found that Rishi Jamdagini is a nice gentleman. He is very caring towards his people. He dislikes it the most when people are desrespecting their history and traditions.

I have to accept this fact that I came very late in Malana. I should have come atleast 10 years ago. But thanks to Mr Krishan and his stories that made us understand each and every thing so easily about Malana.

People of Malana are very honest and simple. They were befooled several times by local administration and Hydropower project companies. Not many people are educated here. Forget about free electricity, hydropower project company in Malana has not provided a single job to the people of Malana.

It made us very sad that plastic waste was littered all around Malana. This waste creates a bad image of Malana. Tourists coming from outside are contributing equally by throwing chips packets and water/coldrink bottles on the way.

When we were about to leave Malana, Rishi Jamdagini came and whispered into my ears...

"All good things in the world will get attacked. Not thinking so, will be naive."
